NEURAL CIRCUITRY OF SOCIAL AND MOTIVATED BEHAVIOR

Our goal is to define neural circuits that bridge social and emotional processing and direct innate behavioral states. Using specialized imaging technology, we record the activity of hundreds of individual neurons across an ever-changing environment, to uncover the fixed and flexible properties of networks. Together, with an assortment of methods across behavioral, circuit, and cellular units of analysis, our studies will elucidate neural mechanisms that underlie typical and atypical states, including autism spectrum and major depressive disorders.
